Well the sound quality many of the times it´s subjective theme, fortunately i have the oportunity to use the 4 most powerfull synth engines in the market (TritonEtreme,Motif ES, Fantom X and Kurz K2600X) in my live rigs and in studio situations and well for my personal point of view this are my conclusions:

1.- The VAST synth engine in K2600 it´s the most powerfull engine of the 4 systems, you can make everything with this synth, even make some analogish type of sintesis like granular, modular and some other complex types of sound generation. Unfortunately it´s the most complex of the 4. The expansion cards arent too god and sound "old" in this moment, but well if you have this "Lamborghini" of the synths shure you dont have problems makin´ all that you need. The piano section it´s really supreme, the triple strike piano is still one of the best pianos in the market, for me only the fantom X piano it´s over the K2600 piano. The organ section it´s the best, you have the KB3 mode to make real drawbar emulation in real-time and have a really good collection of this vintage organ sounds. Strings are only ok, and orchestral section it´s good but not impressive, the fx section it´s best of the 4 due the KDFX it´s a profesional fx unit that can use in many flexible ways and even you can combine the 8 kdfx processor with the internal fx processor to obtain a gigantic realtime fx processor with many many busses.

2.- The Motif series have really great sounds in the solo/acoustic section, but if youre into "real" orchestral music you have a really desapointed with the fatness of the ensembles.
The piano section it´s really nice, you have a great acoustic piano, maybe too crisp for classical music (if youre into the piano concert sound) but great for general uses really impresive , the EP are maybe the best in the market.
The weak point it´s the synth engine, not friendly (even Kurz it´s more user friendly) with the /&%&$· small screen you can make it the process easily, and unfortunately if youre try to make some analogish emulations you wont have a good results `cause the filters arent really good for this propouse.The Fx section it´s great, but the 8 dual processor not function in all the modes and finally you have only a 4 or 5 real busses for make complex sounds, and the distortions fx are really weak and digital, if you lake this toy distortion maybe cant ear any diference, but if you use some real valve distortion you can ear easily whats im talkin about.

3.-The Triton engine it´s the most over-exploted in the last years, it´s powerfull, easy to use, maybe at this time it´s soo limited in the simultaneous osc section, but in other ways it´s powerfull, the acustic piano section its HORRIBLE, sound like a toy really really bad, the electric pianos are greats and the extreme version have the valve that convert any ep, lead or vintage organs in a really killer sounds.
The orchestral section are really good, maybe the best of the 4 and if you have the EXB06-07 you obtain the totally best orchestral collection for any synth in the market ´cause it´s the Peter Siedlacsek´s advanced orchestra that you find in the giga-sampler, akai and emu formats.In other way the analogish sound are really great maybe not fatish like the real analogs but really good for electronic type of music. The weak point it´s the piano section and the over-used sounds.

4.-Finally the Fantom series (s/x ) have the best piano section if youre into academic music (best concert piano sound) some people says that the decay it´s too short but if you have experiencie with real concert pianos like bosendorfer or steinway k120 or another heavy weight pianos you know that the decay it´s really good, (common guys dont tried to hide youre mistakes in a sustain-sea), the ep are goods and you can make some great sound with the cosm fx, the electric guitars are the best due the fx engine too, organs are good but if you need a real B3 the fantom unfortunately doesnt have a perfect emulation, for the user that are in the prog. music you will find perfect due the really good distortion fx in the cosm area, another sounds like solo-acoustic are greats like the acurate acoustic guitar with many options in articulations, the oboe,english horn, flute etc. but in the orchestral section you dont have the same quality, Fantom have a poor collection of ensembles, the strings arent good maybe the slow strings are ok but for fast passages the fantom doesnt match the contest, and the multivelocity ensembles arent the best, fortunately the SRX for strings are really powerfull really close to the korg EXB06-07, and maybe another cards can help you to make stronger this section. For electronic music you have a really nice soundset , hey trance guys fantom have all that you need, and many pop producers have the exact tools in this machine for make your comecial hits,im not in this way but as a composer i know whats the process to make this music. The interface it´s the most user friendly but have some complex issues for certain areas.

In the sampler area only Motif and Fantom are in the contest, due the 500+ Mb in this 2 machines, The triton only have a poor 96Mb (but some akai compatibility) and Kurz 128Mb ( and maybe the best multi-system compatibility).

Ok friends i hope this review can help a little bit in the comparison, im tryin´to make an objetive comparison cause fortunately i have many of this machines in my arsenal and i love all the pros on every system, fynally this is not a race or another type of competition, the music it´s more complex than only use the BEST synth engine, it´s more in the way of use the tools in a inteligent way...or what do you think about the incredible piano music compose from the greatest like chopin or telonius monk, or even the incredible oriental music make it only with a duduk or a monophonic flutes.
