没想到，我这帖还在。最近想看看有什么更好的钢琴音源，在网上逛的时候，看到一篇老的求助贴子。
一个人想购买音源，向大家求助，人家买的是正版的，不能全都包下来，3选1，呵呵。

象牙 vs 斯坦威 vs EW的超级巨无霸 就是那个传说中的200多G的。
令人惊奇的是，象牙以压倒性的优势胜出。（当然啦只是在这个帖子里而已^_^）

Hello to all,
This is a repost from the V.I. Forum because of the lack of responses.
I have listened to the demo samples of all 3 (I think the 3 best in the today's market) of the Virtual Piano Instruments mentioned in the title of this post and I am having trouble deciding which one should I buy. The most authentic sounding might be the Garritan, but what I am also looking for is the one that can be used best for music production purposes that is authentic enough and also easy to implement its sound into a mix of other instruments.
I am looking for people who have actual first hand experiences and mostly mixing experiences with any or all of these V.I.s.
Need some input from people who are using these instruments.
Please share your honest opinion which one you like the most and why.

Hi! I have the East West Goliath (for Structure) that comes with a Steinway piano and it is great. However, I must ask you if you tried the Pianoteq plug-in: small, light on CPU, no samples, ultra flexible, great great response and feel, and sounds amazing. If I was to buy a piano only plug-in, I would definately consider it. I used on Pro Tools and it worked perfectly. Just my $0.02.

I have most piano plugs and libraries out there. Lately for a pop project I've found Ivory Upright Pianos are the best of the bunch. I also have all the Sampletekk stuff which is really good.

Garritan and EW are fine, but not on the same level.
The ONLY thing I liked about pianoteq was its playability. It did feel pretty natural, but sonically it just didn't cut it.

Ivory. I've used it on many projects where the label wouldn't pony up for the extra cost of another studio with a great real piano. Most of the time the band isn't too happy about the corporate cheapness but when we start using Ivory, especially the Upright Pianos, everyone ends up happy.
I've used a lot of real pianos as well and, as far as my experience goes, Ivory's more than just a make do substitute.

I make my living playing the piano. The Ivory Italian Grand is in my opinion the closest I have heard to a real miked up grand piano.

About Ivory:
It is obvious that Ivory is the overwhelming winner from most of the replies.
I am wondering if it is strictly because of its quality or because somehow it became more popular than the others that maybe due to the fact that Ivory is an older edition than the others. Honestly, I don't know.
True, I only listened to demo samples and I never used any of these V.I.s, but from the demo samples only I am simply not able to justify the overwhelming votes for Ivory.
I feel that Ivory might be the best, but I cannot tell clearly enough. It might be because of my lack of hearing or simply I don't have the firsthand user experience that most of you guys have.
I already purchased the Quantum Leap Pianos, but fortunately I haven't open the box yet so it is still possible to return it to the store where I have purchased it from.
I know there can be many factors why an instrument is better or just better for some, but if Ivory is clearly better in the mixes from the actual users point of view then Ivory might be the winner for me too.
So far, I am overwhelmed about how many great piano V.I.s out there and it is really hard to decide which one to buy.
The best would be to buy all of it, if budget wouldn't be much of my concern.

I believe everyone so far has commented on the audio quality of given instruments, which is what you have obviously asked for. But let me add this technical aspect to my initial very short comment:
Ivory is THE Best-working Virtual Instrument out there. There's no comparison. It just works as you'd expect, and there's no hassle.
So, if you think of choosing between Ivory and "X", then just take another thought about technicalities as well...

Yes, reliability, hassle and problem free usage is VERY Important and thank you for pointing this out!!
My system as of now:
Apple Dual G5 2.0GHz with 4 GB Ram, OS X 10.5.6, Pro-Tools 8.0 with Pro-Tools HD 2 plus an Accel process card addition.
I am wondering if my system would be enough to use Ivory along with some other V.I.s that I already use like Structure, Omnisphere... etc.
I hope that the Ivory player is not too much of a CPU hog since unfortunately my G5 is approaching it's limit already!
I am planning to upgrade my system in the near future to an 8 core 2.8GHz MacPro with at least 4-8 GB Ram and either a Magma PE6R4 or maybe a crossgrade exchange to the new HD 2 Accel PCIe cards.

Ivory should run just fine, but I'd still recommend you print out your track once its ready, so you can save the resources for something else. If you store the original inactive track then tweaks can be done later if needed.

East West PMI
I like them all, So I have them all!!! Cheaper than a Used grand that sounds Good
The Giga pianos are sounding a bit long in the tooth so they don't get used much
Different People I work with Like different Libraries
I don't think there is a one and only They all can work and they all grow on you!!!
I also own Pianoteq and Pianissimo I understand their Idea of Sound interaction but haven't made a decision

I too make my living playing the piano and for my money, Ivory is the best not only because it sounds great but because it PLAYS like a real piano.
Pair it up with a top tier wieghted controller, close your eyes and you will swear you are playing a real piano.
It's that good.
I have not tried the monster piano thingie (east/west) but I was less than impressed with their Bose290. IMHO it sounds and plays terrible.
Garritan is ok.
I am looking forward to trying the Bluthner piano as I have been told that it is a real sleeper.
The PianoTeq and Pianissimo pianos are ok in a mix and very light on resources but don't sound or play as good as Ivory.
Same goes for TruePianos.
I would give Pianissimo a whirl though because the demo is fully functional and a lot of people like it. Don't let the price fool you, it's a pretty darn good piano.
Still as a pro pianist, nothing I have tried up to this day can touch Ivory and especially the Italian Grand.

It's funny that pro-piano players are giving props to Ivory...I also have been playing the piano for over 16 years, have played countless real grand pianos (Steinways, Yamahas, Kawaii's, etc.) and have played multiple great sounding pianos in a big studio setting...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to start a big debate here...Ivory is GREAT. Everything you read about it is true, the playability and attention to detail are great, I just feel it's a bit too dark. Granted, in a mix situation this can be doctored with a little bit of EQ...but out of the box, I just feel it's a bit too dark.
I'm surprised with all the talk of Ivory, that there is no talk of The Grand 3. In a similar price range, to me, The Grand 3 (not 2 by any means) is much more believeable and bright with the ability to cut through a mix without hardly any tweaking of EQ. The Grand 3 does have a MASSIVE library and is quite a resource hog, so I can see the downside to that for sure. If you dig around on the net...The Grand 3 did beat out Ivory as #3 best virtual grand piano plug on the market, right behind Vienna Imperial (which by the way is insane...and insanely expensive) and EW quantum leap...
I have heard the Steinway by East West and it does sound pretty phenomenal, but in my very humble opinion doesn't compare to either of the aforementioned plugs above.
It's all opinions, mine will differ from the next guy to the next guy to yours.do what I did...try them all out! Find a way to play almost all the top contenders because they ALL have strengths and weakness'.To me there isn't 1 "Holy Grail" piano plug-in.

Funny. I feel the same way.
I am also a piano player of over 15 years. I own Akoustik Piano, Synthogy Ivory's Italian Grand and I work with the Basic Ivory Library at the school I teach at.
Synthogy Ivory's Italian Grand is my go to piano, but I really end up brightening it up a lot in mixes. I work with a lot of New Age, Religious and Pop music.
Honestly, I am not completely sold on Synthogy yet. I haven't found a sampler yet that I think is a real grand substitute. Ivory is good, but whenever I compare it to a real grand, I realize how much is still missing in these samplers.
To my ears, the demos for Quantum Leap Pianos sound the best to me. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with Play (East West's Sampler for their instruments). They don't seem to think their sampler is as troublesome as it really is. Plus, Pro Tools no longer supports Play (although I am forced to use it for East West Orchestra). Synthogy on the other hand has Awesome support! Their sampler is awesome and they keep things current and reply to emails quickly.
Tough decision. I would consider using Quantum Leap Pianos if I was running it off a slave computer (also considering it is a huge library with high demands to processing). Otherwise I would probably go with Synthogy Ivory.

文字太多，就不翻译了。大家的总体评论是，象牙的意大利扩展很不错，立式扩展很不错。里面不乏一些专业人士也在讨论(最后有一点点火药味)。其中还提到了Grand 3钢琴音源也不错。
我就只能希望 Synthogy 的【大象牙2】快点出盗*版啊。不知道有电子狗的音源什么时候能被破*解 :) |
